Excited to make something with our recently purchased 3D printer, my son helped me pick out some models from thingiverse and we got to work.

My son likes to remove the heads and eventually the circled portion broke. This was resolved with a baking soda/super glue cement.
We used Sharpie markers to color the figures.
The channels created by the 3D printing process caused the ink to wick and mix together at color boundaries. I wonder if an acetone vapor bath, before coloring, would fix this.
I like how the the various tools snap into the hands.

Axolotl

We also made a Minecraft axolotl. Thanks to my son, I learned they are real creatures. Not only are they real; but they are capable of regenerating eye, heart, and even some brain tissue. Amazing!

I like the articulating legs and tail.
I'm not sure why, but the upper gills got a bit a sloppy.
Great choice of colors!

We printed a unicorn shaped cookie cutter for his friend at school. These aren’t real, but diabetes is.
